On Sunday, a U.S. Amateur Team East official revealed that Modified Median was used as the first tie-breaker for places 1-5 and acknowledged that USCF rule 34G2 (the USAT System!!) was only used to determine the other prizes in the tournament.
Modified Median | ||
Master Maters | 23.5 | 27.5 |
Go Ahead, Mate My Day | 22.5 | 26.5 |
Three And Half Masters | 22.5 | 26.0 |
Caro-Cain Defense | 22.5 | 25.5 |
*Chessmates Of Rahway NJ | 21.0 | 23.5 |
Perhaps, at some point, someone will explain why 2 methods are used (or necessary) and publicly release complete standings with tie-breaks info. The event's 294 teams and 1237 players deserve as much.
