#1299 Kenilworth Spring Swiss - Round 1 Annotations

Here is my draw vs. Camejo. It's not for those with weak stomachs. There were some 25 errors in the game and I missed 4 wins. The first was at move 21. That might be a good place to stop:

Board 5 G/61+5 (delay) B14 Caro-Kann Defense Panov Attack Camejo arrived 5 minutes into the round & I was the only player available. Thus, both of us played a stronger opponent than expected. 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.exd5 I expected 3.Nc3 , as in our 2014 Father's Day Quick game in Westfield. 3...cxd5 4.c4 No surprise. I didn't think he'd play the more sedate Exchange Variation. Nf6 5.Nf3 5.Nc3 is more usual. 5...e6 (!) The engines suggest 5...Nc6 & the Gruenfeld-like 5...g6 but I prefer the Nimzo-Indian-style treatment. 6.Nc3 Bb4 7.Bd2 7.cxd5 Nxd5 8.Bd2 & 7.Bd3 dxc4 8.Bxc4 are the main lines. 7...0-0 8.a3 Bxc3 9.Bxc3 Nc6
